Join us for this varied and inspired lineup of three Portland bands: Experimental indie-rock group, Unseen Object, will open the night, followed by poet-singer-songwriter Pythias Braswell, who will appear in trio form with cellist Esmé Schwall and violinist Megan Cronin Tucker. ML Johnson will finish the night playing deep-toned and twisting folk ballads, supported by a 6-piece band.
UNSEEN OBJECT is a band from Portland, OR. The project was founded in 2022 and is fronted by human multi-instrumentalists David Alvarado (guitar) and Kai Nealis (vocals). Dylan Bodnarick (bass) and Malen Cuturic (drums) complete their poignant alternative rock and roll sound. They do it for love of the game and with a faith in "all good things come to those that stay true". They are all music lifers who care more about stretching to make some musical meaning out of the air than about most other things. They are finishing their first album.

PYTHIAS BRASWELL (feat. cellist Esmé Schwall and violinist Megan Cronin Tucker) is the musical offering of Michael C. Hays, a poet and composer whose songs are direct, impassioned, austere, haunting and hopeful. His vocals combine the trance-induced, improvised expansions often found in devotional hymns of the world, with the structure and lyrical clarity of a Jazz-era ballad. His guitar work draws from American folk traditions until it reaches the edge and falls off into unknown regions. Hays grew up in Iowa and lives in Portland, OR.

ML JOHNSON is a Portland- based singer-songwriter who plays subtle and contemplative fingerstyle guitar using alternate tunings reminiscent of Brit folk legends such as Bert Jansch and Nick Drake. He will be appearing with a full 6-piece band including string and rhythm sections. Johnson also plays bass for the indie-folk band LASKA.
